BALTIMORE – One of the top junior golfers in the State of Maryland, Michael Crowley, will make the short trip from Calvert Hall College High School next year to study and play golf at Loyola University Maryland, Head Coach
Chris Baloga announced today.
"I am thrilled to welcome Michael Crowley to Loyola and our golf program," Baloga, a Calvert Hall graduate himself, said. "Michael will be a perfect fit as he is a very hard worker, does incredible in the classroom and from all accounts will be a great addition to our team.
"He is relatively new to tournament golf having only participated the last two years after he played several other sports in high school and was a high-level lacrosse player at Calvert Hall before deciding to focus his energy on golf his sophomore year. He has come a long way in a short period of time and this upside is very exciting to add to the program."
Crowley earned All-Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) honors in 2018 and 2019 and won the MIAA title in the spring of 2019. He carded a 2-over par 73 in the first round last April at Eagles Nest Country Club before putting up a 1-under 71 in the final round to win the title by five strokes.
"Both of my parents (Michael and Eileen Crowley) are Loyola graduates, and they both had terrific experiences there," the newest member of the Loyola golf program said. "Loyola has a great reputation both in golf and academically, and when I visited there, I could definitely see myself there. Coach Baloga is someone who I think will be great to play for, and I really enjoyed meeting guys who are on the team now."
In June, Crowley tied for 10
th at the Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) Junior Amateur Championship, and in August he tied for sixth at the AJGA UHY/First Tee of Baltimore Junior Championship.
