NEW YORK – Three Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse players, and two members of the men's lacrosse team, were named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, an early-season look at those who will vie for the prize given in May to the nation's top players.

Taylor VanThof were named to the women's watch list, while two-time Tewaaraton finalist
Pat Spencer and
Jacob Stover were on the men's version. Both Loyola teams will be back on the field Saturday, March 2, in a Greyhounds doubleheader at Ridley Athletic Complex. The women host Penn State University at 12 noon, while the men take on College of the Holy Cross in its Patriot League opener at 3:30 p.m.
Powers, the 2018 Patriot League Attacker of the Year, is making her second-straight appearance on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, after being added to last year's list midway through the season. An attacker from Skaneateles, New York, Powers picked up a second-consecutive regional All-America honor and a third-straight All-Patriot League award after putting together a 32-game point streak a year ago. With eight hat tricks, six multiple assist games and 11 four-plus point performances in 2018, she finished second on the team with 78 points on 48 goals and 30 assists. So far this season, Powers is third on the team with seven goals and 11 points.
Rosenzweig is being included on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the first time in her career. One of just two sophomores to earn preseason first or second team All-America honors from ILWomen, Rosenzweig also picked up Preseason Patriot League Attacker of the Year accolades after being named the League's Rookie of the Year last year. Hailing from Katonah, New York, Rosenzweig had a standout freshman season for the Greyhounds, becoming the first player at Loyola – male or female – to record 100 points in a season. With 102 points, she not only set the school record for single-season points, but also the program's Freshman Records for points, assists (47) and draw controls (89). So far this season, Rosenzweig leads the team with nine goals, six assists and 15 points. She's also tied for second on the team with 14 draw controls.
VanThof has earned a spot on the Tewaaraton Award Watch list for a second-consecutive season. An ILWomen preseason All-American, VanThof is looking to break Loyola's all-time career draw controls record. The first player at Loyola – and the third in Patriot League history – to reach 100 draw controls in multiple seasons, she ranks second at Loyola and third in the Patriot League in career draw controls, winning 298. In addition to winning 119 draw controls last year, she also contributed 49 goals and 53 points. So far this season, the midfielder from Livonia, New York, has two goals, three assists, five points and a team-best 15 draw controls.
Spencer has been a Tewaaraton Award finalist each of the last two seasons and is a three-time USILA All-American for the Greyhounds. The three-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year is the NCAA Division I active career leader in goals (114), assists (178) and points (292). He is first at Loyola in career assists, second in points and sixth in goals. His career assists total ranks seventh in NCAA Division I history, while his point-total is 17
th. In four games this year, Spencer has 14 goals and 12 assists for 26 points.
Stover's last five games have been some of the best of his career as a four-year starter for the Greyhounds. Starting with the NCAA Quarterfinal last season, he has made 80 saves in those contests including 19 in that playoff game against Yale University and two 18-save performances this year versus the University of Virginia and Rutgers University. Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason All-American has a career 8.26 goals-against average in 49 games. Stover has made saves on 55.4 percent of the shots on goal he has faced and has a 35-11 career record for the Greyhounds.
