QUAKERTOWN, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland women's varsity eight boat competed against Lehigh University on Saturday in the only race of the day before the event was scratched due to wind and surface conditions on Lake Nockamixon.
 
The Greyhounds' Rhys Shueren, Gabby Teoli, Ellie Thompson, Alex Zahn, Mariella Tani, Theresa Martin, Maureen Frauenheim, Jenna Barrett and Sarah Hofstetter finished in 7:27.58. Loyola was nearly even with the Mountain Hawks for the first 1,000 meters before Lehigh pulled away to win in 6:48.58.
 
I'm disappointed that we didn't have the opportunity to race all our boats today, but Mother Nature just didn't oblige," said Head Coach Megan Patrick. "We've been working hard this winter and through Spring Break, and I'm looking forward to seeing where we stack up against the field in all boat categories next weekend at the Murphy Cup."
 
Loyola competes Saturday, March 23, at the Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
