BALTIMORE –
Matt Fitzmaurice and
Kyle Gower teamed for a win at No. 2 doubles for the Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team on Wednesday, but the University of Delaware won the match, 7-0, at the McClure Tennis Center.
Fitzmaurice and Gower downed Blaise Casselbury and Laurenz Lankes, 6-3 in doubles, but the Blue Hens won the other two pairs matches.
James Wilkinson and Luis Molina took a 6-1 decision over Loyola's
Benny Glezer and
C.J. Cash at No. 1, and Luis Marcano and Asdrubal Marcano were 6-2 winners against
Colin Kanuch and
J.J. Good at No. 3.
Edik Pribitkin and
Charlie Shanker both forced third sets for the Greyhounds in singles, but their Delaware counterparts came away with the wins.
Pribitkin won the first set against Milo Nagle at No. 4, but Nagle rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, (10-4) victory. Shanker was a second-set winner against Nathan Benyowitz, but the Blue Hens No. 5 player won the match, 6-3, 4-6, (10-7).
Wilkinson beat Glezer, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, and Molina was a 6-2, 7-5 victor against Fitzmaurice at No. 2. Casselbury defeated Cash, 7-6 (5), 6-3, at No. 4, and Lankes earned a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Corsini.
