WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis teams posted three wins on Sunday, completing a weekend of play against Patriot League competition.

Loyola's men won three singles matches and the doubles point to take down Lafayette College, 4-1, while the women were forced to come from behind with four singles wins to post a 4-2 victory over the Leopards. In the weekend's finale, the Greyhounds men beat College of the Holy Cross, 4-0.

Brian Hoffarth and
Kyle Gower scored a 6-1 victory over Andrew Reed and Paul Caruso at No. 3 doubles, but the Leopards evened the doubles score with a 6-3 win at No. 2 as John Yurconic and Daniel Kramer got past the Greyhounds'
Benny Glezer and
Edik Pribitkin.

Loyola took the point, however, as
Skyler Gates and
Matt Fitzmaurice held off William Barry and Brant Baldwin in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (6), for the win at No. 1.

Barry registered the Leopards' point with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1 against Hoffarth, but Gower registered a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Baldwin at No. 4. Pribitkin knocked off Caruso, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6, and Fitzmaurice got past Ross Coleman, 6-0, 3-1 (default, injury) at No. 5.

Two Greyhounds, Gates and Glezer, were in matches that did not finish when the team match was decided. Gates led Yurconic, 6-3, 3-6, 3-2, while Glezer and Kramer were deadlocked a set each, 6-2, 5-7.

On the women's side, Lafayette earned wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Maureen McCormick and Alexa Cooke beat
Lin Robertson and
Alexandria Agee, 6-4, in the former, while Grace Conrad and Meredith Block topped
Abby Decker and
Sandra Aguirre, 7-5, in the latter.
Kateri Martin and Abby Thornton scored a win for the Loyola women at No. 1 doubles, beating Cecelia Lesnick and Samantha Snyder, 6-1.

Martin scored a win at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-3 over Lesnick, and Decker was a 7-5, 6-2 winner against McCormick at No. 3. Aguirre and Agee had wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, beating Block (6-0, 6-0) and Katie Hill (6-4, 6-1), respectively.

Conrad logged a point for the Leopards with a 6-4, 6-4 win against Robertson in No. 4. Thornton played Snyder to scores of 1-6, 7-5, 0-1 before the team match was decided.

Against the Crusaders, Gates and Fitzmaurice picked up a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles over Matthew Slowinski and Peter Campito. Hoffarth and Gower downed Matthew Murphy and Henry Harrs, 6-4, at No. 3, to clinch the doubles point. Glezer and Pribitkin were tied, 6-6, with Will Chen and Alexander Ruenhorst when doubles ended.

In singles play, Gower topped Slowinski, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3, and Fitzmaurice was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Ruenhorst in the fourth. Pribitkin took care of Campito, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6, completing the sweep.

In unfinished matches, Hoffarth trailed Chen, 5-7, 1-3 at No. 1, Gates led Murphy, 6-3, 1-2, at No. 2 and
Charlie Shanker led Harrs, 6-4, 5-1 at No. 6.
