BALTIMORE – The Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team defeated Gettysburg, 7‑0, Friday at the McClure Tennis Center.
Loyola opened the match by sweeping all three doubles contests to secure the opening point. Nick Lawliss and Ryan Gill earned a victory at No. 1 doubles over Teo Burgess and Matt Porreca, while Cyrus Shivkumar and Blake Edwards won 6‑2 at No. 3 doubles against JP Damare and Connor McPartland. The Greyhounds also picked up a win at No. 2 doubles, where Petter Hagen defeated Spencer Pompian and Owen Kutlu of Gettysburg, 6‑3.
In singles play, Loyola won all six matches in straight sets. Hagen defeated Burgess, 6‑0, 6‑2, at No. 1 singles, while Louis Moldenhauer earned a 6‑4, 6‑0 win over McPartland at No. 2. Gill followed with a 6‑2, 6‑3 victory against Ben O'Connor‑Skloot at No. 3 singles.
Edwards posted a 6‑1, 6‑1 win over Porreca at No. 4 singles, Lawliss defeated Kutlu, 6‑1, 6‑0, at No. 5, and Alejandro Rotundo completed the sweep with a 6‑1, 6‑2 victory over Damare at No. 6 singles.
