LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Loyola University Maryland's men's and women's tennis teams returned to action after the Easter holiday with a pair of wins against Rider University. The women won 6-0, and the men were 5-1 victors.
Kateri Martin led off the women's singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Cyd Melendez at No. 1, and
Abigail Thornton topped Vanessa Canda, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2.
Abby Decker defeated Angelica Garcia, 8-5, at No. 3 singles, and
Lin Robertson came back to beat Amanda Binder, 6-1, 4-6, (10-7) at No. 4.
Alexandria Agee downed Marion Waterkeyn, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5, and
Genevieve Wurtz beat Carmen Carbonell who defaulted due to injury with Wurtz up 2-1 at No. 6.
On the men's side,
Brian Hoffarth took down Javier Melendez, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1, but Peter Komosinski beat the Greyhounds'
Skyler Gates, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2.
Benny Glezer was a 7-5, 6-1 winner Almonte Payano at No. 3.
Kyle Gower topped Ryan Ciacco, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4 singles, and
Matt Fitzmaurice beat Griffin Clark, 6-2, 7-6, at No. 5.
Edik Pribitkin finished the victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Brandon Gildea at No. 6.
