The Haworth, New Jersey, native concluded his career at the Patriot League Championships last weekend, placing in a tie for 17th at 6-over 222. He finished the season ranked second on the team with a 72.81 stroke average and was recently voted Loyola's Fr. Throughout his career, he played in 23 tournaments and through 68 rounds, including making three Patriot League Championships and one NCAA Regional Championship appearance. He helped Loyola to the 2017 Patriot League title, where he earned first-team all-conference honors with a top-five finish.
He finished his career with a 73.43 stroke average and shot 20 rounds at par-or-better, including 10 in the 60s. His 72.81 stroke average from this season was the fifth-best single-season score for the Greyhounds in program history, while his low round of 5-under 65 from the third round of the 2017 Doc Gimmler is tied for the third-best single-round score in Loyola history.
Alonso becomes Loyola's fifth Academic All-Patriot League Team honoree since the Greyhounds joined the League for the 2013-14 season. He joins Jimmy Denger, Connor Flach, Matt Oshrine and
Ethan Wall as Loyola's academic team selections.
