The Matchup

  • Loyola men's soccer begins a stretch of three-straight home games, all against opponents in the top half of the Patriot League standings, with a Saturday afternoon matchup against Lafayette.
  • This will be the first game between the teams since the 2019 Patriot League semifinals, when Lafayette advanced 5-4 on penalties following a scoreless draw.

Last Time Out

  • Tomas Jorge opened the scoring in the 26th minute, and Rene White added what turned out to be the game-winning strike 16 minutes into the second half to help NJIT hand Loyola a 2-1 setback on Tuesday night.
  • Loc San scored his second goal of the season for Loyola with 4:09 remaining in regulation, but the visitors were unable to find a late equalizer.
  • Marco Bla and Matthew Lala assisted on San's goal, with Bla picking up his first collegiate point in the process.
  • Chase Vosvick, who saw a shutout streak end at 246:09 in the first half, made two saves in goal for the Greyhounds.
  • The Highlanders (3-6-1), who reached the 2019 NCAA tournament as ASUN champions, led 15-6 in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks.
Series History
  • Loyola leads 7-2-2 in a series which dates back to 1986.
  • The Greyhounds hold a 5-1-2 edge since joining the Patriot League, with the lone win for the Leopards a 1-0, double overtime triumph in the 2014 regular season finale.
  • Loyola has won each of the last four regular season meetings, including a 4-2 victory at Ridley on Oct. 5, 2019.
  • The Greyhounds led 19-7 in shots and 12-7 in corners during the 2019 Patriot League semifinal meeting, but Lafayette goalkeeper Alex Sutton made seven saves to give the visitors a chance to advance on penalties.
Scouting Lafayette
  • The Leopards (6-4-1, 2-1-1 PL) are coming off a 1-0 home victory over Colgate last weekend. That win improved their home record to 5-0-1 on the year, but they are 1-4-0 in their five road contests.
  • Lafayette has reached the Patriot League championship game in each of the last two seasons, falling 2-1 (2OT) to American during the shortened spring season and dropping a 1-0 decision to Lehigh back in 2019.
  • The Leopards went 7-1-0 overall last spring, with six of those victories decided by a single goal.
  • Sr. F Marcos Kitromilides, a two-time All-Patriot League performer, leads the team with 10 points (4 G, 2 A).
  • Sr. GK Alex Sutton, a four-year starter, has played every minute in goal and ranks second in the conference with four shutouts this fall.

Ingram, Swales, Vosvick Take Home Patriot League Weekly Awards

  • Loyola added three more Patriot League weekly awards to its season total on Monday, as Justin Ingram, Kelan Swales and Chase Vosvick were all recognized after contributing to 3-0 wins over Boston U (Oct. 2) and William & Mary (Sept. 29) for the Greyhounds.
  • Ingram (Midfielder of the Week) and Swales (Offensive Player of the Week) earned weekly accolades after combining for 12 points in the two victories, while Vosvick was selected as Goalkeeper of the Week for a 10th time at Loyola after registering the 22nd and 23rd shutouts of his collegiate career.
  • Ingram totaled one goal and three assists for the Greyhounds. His one goal, one assist performance at Boston U was his third 3-point game in eight appearances this season, and he leads Loyola with 11 points (3 G, 5 A) on the year. Ingram's 0.56 assists per game lead the conference and are 20th overall in Division I.
  • Swales supplied seven points (3 G, 1 A) across the two victories. He had a career-high five points, the most by a Patriot League player this season, while helping the Greyhounds knock off William & Mary for the first time since 1998.
  • Vosvick is now 4-3-1 this season with a 0.61 goals-against average and .815 save percentage. He ranks 16th in Division I in goals-against average, and he is 25th nationally in save percentage.

  • West Virginia was coming off back-to-back victories over No. 3 Pittsburgh (2-1) and No. 17 Penn State (3-1), but was held off the scoresheet for the first time this season.
  • Shots were even at 6-6 after halftime, including a 5-4 edge for Loyola in the second half. Alex Bobocea played the final 1:05 in goal after Vosvick left due to injury.
