BALTIMORE –
Edik Pribitkin and
Matt Cardano reached the semifinals and eventually finished third at the Loyola Men's Tennis Classic this weekend, leading a Greyhounds contingent as they finished their home slate for the fall.
Next week, Loyola will head to Annapolis, Maryland, for the ITA Atlantic Division I Regional Championships.
In addition to Priitkin and Cardano, two Loyola teams reached the consolation final where
Oliver Davey and
Colin Corsini prevailed with a 6-4 doubles win over
Liam Rompere and
Jorge Quintana.
In the consolation semifinals, Davey and Corsini beat a combined team from Morgan State and Long Island, taking the doubles point 7-5 before Davey scored a 6-0, 6-2 singles victory.
On the other side of the bracket, Rompere and Quintana prevailed over teammates
Ryan Boland and
Gustavo Rotundo, winning 6-4 in doubles. Rompere then defeated Boland with a super-tiebreaker in singles, 6-3, 3-6, (10-8), and Quintana was a 7-5, 6-1 winner over Rotundo.
Bennett LaLonde and
Joe Ocker defeated teammates
Gilberto Rivera-Gordillo and
Tyler Mast in the 13
th-place match, winning 6-1 in doubles. LaLonde beat Rivera-Gordillo, 4-2 (retired) in singles, but Mast downed Ockeer, 6-4, 6-2.
Skyler Gates and
George Cavo played a Coppin State pair in the seventh-place match that went unfinished. The Loyola duo lost, 6-4, in doubles, but Gates had a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win in singles.
