BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
David Brown III earned his most-extended playing time of the season over Loyola University Maryland's last two games, and his contributions to a pair of Greyhounds wins were rewarded Monday as he was named the GEICO Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
Brown made his first collegiate start a day ago and scored seven points in Loyola's 75-70 road win at Fairfield University. He knocked down a pair of first-half 3-pointers in the game to help Loyola get out to an early advantage.
The freshman from La Plata, Maryland, saw 22 minutes of action on Wednesday evening in a win over Elizabethtown College as he scored eight points for a new career-high. He also hit two threes in the game and had an assist and a rebound for the Greyhounds.
The product of Bishop McNamara High School entered the week having played 37 total minutes in Loyola's first five games, a total that he equaled in the games against Elizabethtown and Fairfield.
Brown and the Greyhounds return to action on Wednesday, December 1, to start a two-game homestand. Loyola will host Chicago State University at 7 p.m. in Reitz Arena.
