BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland women's tennis yielded just seven points to singles opponents on Saturday, sweeping visiting Salisbury University, 7-0, in non-conference action at the McClure Tennis Center.
The Greyhounds opened with the doubles point as
Kateri Martin and
Abigail Thornton combined for a 6-0 shutout of Veronica Cuellar and Kat Tamesis at No. 1.
Julia Thompson and
Taylor Kuncl beat Mel Williams and Sarah Dover, 6-2, at No. 2, and
Sandra Aguirre and
Brooke Santoriello beat Elizabeth Christine and Karli Allen, 6-1, at No. 3.
Martin opened the singles lineup with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Cuellar at No. 1, and Thornton followed with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Tamesis at No. 2.
Aguirre beat Dover, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3, and Thompson was a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Christine at No. 4. Kuncl beat Hannah Carter, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5, and Santoriello beat Allen, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 6.
The Greyhounds are back in action on Sunday with a home match against La Salle University at 1 p.m.
