CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Loyola University Maryland men's golf was 4-under through three holes on its back nine Saturday at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate when play was stopped for the day due to heavy storms in the Triangle area.
The Greyhounds, who opened the day from the 10
th hole and were playing the front nine second, are 7-over through 12 total holes at the 7,242-yard University of North Carolina Finley Course.
Loyola was amongst the last pairings to start on Saturday as four teams have finished all 18 holes of the first round, including host and clubhouse leader North Carolina which is 12-under.
Evan Brown was even through nine holes before birding the par-4 first to get to 1-under. He is tied for 12
th overall through his 12.
Brandon Berry rebounded from a back-nine in which he was 4-over to birdie the second and third holes to drop to 2-over and a tie for 39
th. He is amongst a group there that includes
Brett Inserra who is also 2-over after posting an eagle three at the 560-yard, par-5 third hole.
Carlo Pizzano is tied for 62
nd at 4-over, and
Matt Malits is 5-over and tied for 76
th.
Nick Mejia, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 27
th after shooting 1-over on the back nine to go with pars on the first three holes of the front.
Play is scheduled to resume Sunday with the completion of the first round.
