FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – Loyola University Maryland women's rowing was back on the water Sunday morning, taking on host George Mason and Robert Morris in a tri-team regatta on the Occoquan River.
A first-place showing for the Greyhounds' Varsity Four boat of

Jenna Barrett, 
Emily Hunt, 
Claire Volz and coxswain 
Sarah Hofstetter was the standout performance, as Loyola completed the race in 7:59.59 to surge past second-place Robert Morris (8:10.47).
"The 1V4 race was the highlight for a second day in a row," head coach 
Megan Patrick said. "They were in a good fight with Robert Morris for 750m, then decided to drop the hammer. The move was decisive and effective. Really great racing!"
In the 2V4 race, Loyola's freshmen boat of

Erin Megill, 
Ivy Gallagher, 
Gabbie MacNeil and coxswain 
Ana LoConte took third place after crossing the finish line in 8:39.67. They were within striking distance of RMU (8:31.38) in second and beat out teammates 
Emma McCann, 
Anna Kelley, 
Megan Gallucci, 
Lindsey Thompson and 
Delaney Gibbons.
The Greyhounds' 1V8 boat of Martin, Barrett, Hunt, Megill, Botto, MacNeil, Gallucci, Volz and Gibbons posted a third-place time of 7:30.85, while the 2V8 crew of McCann, Thompson, Gallagher, 
Rebekah Abraham, 
Holly Hanscom, 
Erin White, 
Ashira Thompson, LoConte and Hofstetter were third in their race with a mark of 8:29.96.
After plenty of practice opportunities over Spring Break, Loyola's men's and women's rowing teams are both back in action next weekend, traveling to Washington, D.C., to face Catholic on Saturday.
