EASTON, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland's men's and women's soccer teams picked up a pair of Patriot League wins Saturday, defeating Lafayette College on the road.
The men beat the Leopards, 5-2, while the women were 6-1 victors.
Edik Pribidkin and
Charlie Shanker picked up a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles over John Yurconic and Daniel Kramer, securing the doubles point as
Benny Glezer and
Nick Haggar won by default at No. 3.
Lafayette won the No. 1 and 2 singles matches as William Barry beat
Benny Glezer, 6-1, 6-0, and Yurconic was a 6-1, 6-2 winner against Pribitkin, but the Greyhounds came back to win the other three singles contests.
Shanker defeated Nash Lovallo, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, and
Matt Cardano was a 6-2, 7-6 (4) winner against Kramer at No.. 4.
Oliver Davey beat Davis Esslinger, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 and Haggar was a winner by default at No. 6.
In the women's match,
Kateri Martin and
Abigail Thornton put together a 6-3 win over Cecelia Lesnick and Samantha Snyder at No. 1 doubles, while
Genevieve Wurtz and
Brooke Santoriello beat Melanie Sparhawk and Jessica Siegel, 6-2, at No. 3.
Five of the six singles matches went the way of the Greyhounds with Martin winning, 6-2, 6-2, over Lesnick at No. 1, and Thornton defeating Snyder in three, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
Olivia Tracey topped Siegel, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, and
Abby Decker defeated Melanie Sparhawk, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5.
Julia Thompson turned in a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Halle DeNardo at No. 6.
The Greyhounds will continue Patriot League play on Sunday from Bucknell University
