Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis suffered a pair of losses on Saturday with Towson University beating the women's team, 6-1, and Salisbury University topping the men, 5-2.

Genevieve Wurtz captured the lone point for the women's team, posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles over Towson's Lauryn Jacobs.

Abigail Thornton played No. 1 singles, falling 7-5, 6-3 to Alexa Martinez, while the Tigers' Themis Haliou beat
Abby Decker, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. Antonia Lawson got past
Julia Thompson at No. 3, 6-4, 6-1, and Sarah Pospischill beat
Brooke Santoriello, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Jessica Assenmacher topped
Lauren Williamson, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

In doubles play, Haliou and Martinez beat Thornton and Decker, 7-5, at No. 1, and Lawson teamed with Lea Kosanovic for a 6-4 victory at No. 2 against Thompson and Santoriello. Assenmacher and Pospischill got past
Olivia Tracey and Ana Rico, 6-3, at No. 3.

On the men's side,
Matt Cardano and
Oliver Davey won the No. 2 doubles match in a tiebreaker, outlasting Patrick MacLean and Stefan Hein, 7-6 (4), but the Sea Gulls claimed the other team pairs matches for the doubles point.

Alec Angradi and Ian Siew beat
Edik Pribitkin and
Charlie Shanker, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles, and Ryan Santmyer paired with Russell Willenborg for a 6-2 victory over
Nick Haggar and
Tyler Mast at No. 3.

Cardano and Davey were also winners in singles for the Greyhounds, capturing points at No. 3 and 4, respectively.
Cardano used three sets to get past MacLean, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, and Davey used a tiebreaker in the second set to top Santmyer, 6-3, 7-6 (6).

Salbisbury, however, won the other four singles match to earn the team win.

Angradi beat Pribitkin, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, and Siew was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Shanker at No. 2.

Haggar won the first set, 7-5, against Willenborg, but the Sea Gulls' No. 5 player came back to win the next two, 6-3 and 6-1. Hein was a 6-0, 7-5 victor at No. 6 against
Tyler Mast.

Both the men's and women's teams will be back on the court Monday, April 5, when they host Rider University at 2 p.m.
