Volleyball Releases 2021 Match Schedule

BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland volleyball will play in three non-conference tournaments, starting August 27, before opening Patriot League action on September 19, as part of a 27-match schedule announced on Friday.
 
The Greyhounds will kick things off at the Old Dominion Invitational, playing a pair of matches on August 27 against West Virginia and Hampton before facing the host Monarchs the following day.
 
A week later, Loyola will make the short trip to compete in the Towson Invitational where it will face the Tigers of both Towson and Princeton on September 3 before taking on Morgan State and Stony Brook, respectively, over the next two days.
 
Tournament play wraps up September 10-11 in Washington, D.C., when Loyola plays at the Georgetown Challenge. The Greyhounds take on Maryland Eastern Shore and George Washington on Friday, with both matches held at George Washington, before concluding the weekend with a road contest at Georgetown the following afternoon.
 
After a final road match at Coppin State on September 15, Loyola begins its ninth season of competition in the Patriot League on September 19 with a home match against Navy. The following weekend, the Greyhounds will take on both Army West Point and Holy Cross in Baltimore.
 
A trip to Lehigh and Lafayette is up on October 1-2 before the Greyhounds host American on October 5. Last year, the Greyhounds beat the 16-time Patriot League champion Eagles for the first time since 1992.
 
Four-straight road matches are next for the Greyhounds as they head to Colgate and Bucknell (October 8-9) and Navy and American (October 22-23).
 
They host Lafayette and Lehigh on October 29-30 before returning to the road for a trip to Holy Cross (November 5) and Army West Point (November 6).
 
Matches with Bucknell and Colgate on November 12 and 13, respectively, wrap-up the regular-season for the Greyhounds. The top six teams in the Patriot League regular-season standings will make the conference tournament. Quarterfinal play will take place November 16 with the regular-season champion hosting semifinals and title match on November 20 and 21.
