PHILADELPHIA – Three Loyola University Maryland women's tennis players –
Lauren Manwiller,
Abby Decker and
Genevieve Wurtz – won their respective singles flights Sunday as the Greyhounds concluded their first tournament of the season at the SJU Invitational.
Manwiller used a pair of tiebreakers to edge teammate
Olivia Tracey, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) in the flight one title match, while Decker was a three-set winner, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 over St. Joseph's Emily Elliott to take the crown in flight two.
Genevieve Wurtz was a winner in the fourth flight, winning her first three matches before advancing via a walkover for the title.
Wurtz and
Brooke Santoriello were also winners in doubles play as they outlasted St. Joseph's Ireland and Sophia Amato, 9-8 (1) in the title match of the second flight.
Julia Thompson scored a runner-up finish in the No. 3 flight, and
Sandra Aguirre was the runner-up in the No. 2 flight consolation bracket and Manwiller and
Jessica Bodewes won the consolation flight of the No. 1 doubles.
