BALTIMORE –
Edik Pribitkin and
Matt Cardano finished fifth as a team Sunday to lead the Loyola University Maryland men's tennis team at the invitational it hosted this weekend at the McClure Tennis Center.
Pribitkin and Cardano battled teammates
Skyler Gates and
George Cavo in the fifth-place match, winning the doubles tilt, 6-1, and then taking both singles contests.
Cardano edged Cavo, 8-6, and Pribitkin was an 8-3 winner over Gates in the other affair.
Oliver Davey and
Colin Corsini finished eighth at the 16-team event. They competed against a team from Harford Community College in the seventh-place match and came out on the down side of a 6-2 decision in doubles. Davey was edged, 6-4, 4-6, (11-9) in the opening singles match, and Corsini was then a 6-1, 6-4 winner in the other singles contest.
Ryan Boland and
Gilberto Rivera-Gordillo took 13
th in the event, winning in a walkover in the final match. On Saturday, they advanced to the contest with a 3-0 win against a team form Harford C.C., sweeping singles and doubles.
Bennett Lalonde and
Joe Ocker took 15
th with a 2-1 win over a Harford C.C. team in the final match of the day. They claimed a 6-0 doubles win, and then Ocker secured the team victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win in his singles match.
