CHARLESTON, S.C. –
James Rico shot a team-leading even-par 72 on Monday, and the Loyola University Maryland golf team moved up a spot in the team standings on the second of three days at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate.
The Greyhounds moved up to eighth in the 18-team field by shooting the third-best round of the day at 6-over 294 on the 7,446-yard, par-72 Daniel Island Club Ralston Course.
Rico birdied the par-4 fifth hole – his 14
th on Monday – to get back to level for the day, and he then parred his final four holes to finish at even par. He is tied for 23
rd overall in the 100-plus player field at 7-over.
Mike Crowley and
Carlo Pizzano are both in the top-20 of the field as Crowley shot 3-over 75 on Monday and Pizzano was a stroke better at 2-over 74. Crowley is tied for 15
th at 5-over for the tournament, while Pizzano is a shot back and tied for 18
th.
Garrett Kessler moved up the leaderboard 25 spots on Monday with a 1-over 73 to rise to a tie for 38
th after a birdie on the par-3 ninth, his finishing hole of the day.
Lorenzo Sanz is 98
th at 24-over.
The tournament wraps up on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
