One More Time

  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball wraps up the regular-season this weekend with a single match. The Greyhounds will host Army West Point at 4 p.m. in Reitz Arena.
  • The match will stream live on ESPN+.

Salute To Our Seniors

Patriot League Qualified

  • Last Saturday's win over the U.S. Naval Academy on October 29 secured a spot for the Greyhounds in the upcoming Patriot League Championships that start with a quarterfinal round on Tuesday, November 15.
  • The following weekend, Loyola's third-set win against Bucknell ensured that the Greyhounds would win a tiebreaker with the Bison, if needed, and earn the No. 4 seed in the upcoming tournament. Loyola will host Bucknell at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, marking the first time the Greyhounds have hosted a Patriot League Championships match.
  • The championships appearance will be Loyola's fourth in as many full-season tournaments (not including the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign). The Greyhounds first qualified in 2018, making the championships for the first time since joining the Patriot League in 2013-14.

Link-ing The Kills

  • Lauren Link broke out as a sophomore outside hitter for the Greyhounds in 2021, finishing second on the team with 3.24 kills per set, a mark good for fifth-best in the Patriot League. She had 17 matches with 10 or more kills, including each of the Greyhounds' last 13 contests. During that stretch, she averaged 14.1 kills per match and 3.6 kills per set.
  • This season, Link has moved into a role as the Greyhounds' primary option on the outside, and she has the stats to back it up. In 22 matches, she has put away 375 kills, an average of 4.57 per set.
  • Link's 4.57 kills per set are tops in the Patriot League and 10th in the NCAA.
  • She has seven matches with 20 or more kills, 15 with 15-plus, and she has put away 11 or more kills in all but two of the 22 matches Loyola has played this year.

Getting More Chances Than The Rest

  • Loyola's defense has given the Greyhounds more offensive opportunities than just about every team nationally this season.
  • The Greyhounds are third nationally in digs per set with 17.80, and as a result, they rank second amongst NCAA Division I teams with 39.49 attacks per set.
  • Individually, Katie Forsythe is seventh in the NCAA in digs per set (5.61), and Lauren Link is eighth in attacks per set (12.73).

All Of The Records

  • Katie Forsythe became the Patriot League and Loyola all-time record holder in digs on October 23, 2021, matching her previous status atop both the conference and school lists for digs in a season and a match.
  • In that match at American, Forsythe had her 2,013th career dig early in the contest, passing the Eagles' Kristen Largay (2016-19) for tops in the conference; late in the match, she moved past Brittany Born's mark of 2,042 to set the school record.
  • In 115 career matches, Forsythe has 2,660 digs. At Army West Point on October 8, Forsythe became the first player in Loyola and Patriot League history, and the 14th in NCAA Division I to cross the 2,500-dig plateau. She now ranks No. 12 in Division I history in career digs.
  • With 5.87 digs per set over the course of her career, she is the active career leader in that category.

Right-Side Success

  • Sophie Brenner has moved into the role as the Greyhounds' starting opposite over the past few weeks after an injury to Caitlin Churney, and Brenner has thrived in the role.
  • Over the last eight matches, she has six with 10 or more kills, as she has averaged 2.96 kills per set.

Setting It Up

  • Ashley Dwyer has taken over as the Greyhounds' primary setter since an injury to Kacy Sekunda, and has posted strong numbers since. In 12 matches as the starter, Dwyer has averaged 11.2 assists per set with 536 total across 48 frames; she had a season-high 53 in a four-set loss at Lafayette.
  • Despite seeing limited rotations in the first nine sets she played this year, she is third in the Patriot League with a 9.66 assists per set mark
