BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland men's basketball set a school record with 30 assists on Thursday night as the Greyhounds wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 99-53 win over Goucher College.
Ten players had at least two assists in the game, and
Alonso Faure,
Chris Kuzemka,
Deon Perry and
Samuel Gibbs each had four. The 30 assists broke the previous mark of 27 set in January 1994 during a game against the University of Maine.
Only four players saw more than 19 minutes of action, and 10 scored points during the game.
Faure and
David Brown III each scored 17 points, and Faure posted his first career double-double with 13 rebounds. Gibbs scored a career-best 12 points, and
Jaylin Andrews added 11.
Golden Dike was a point off a double-double of his own with nine points and a season-best 16 rebounds.
Isaiah Alexander and
Kenneth Jones both added nine points.
Loyola shot better than 70 percent from the field for most of the game and finished 41 of 66 from the field (62.1 percent) overall.
The Greyhounds open Patriot League play in just over a week, hosting Colgate University at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 30, in Reitz Arena.
