Olmstead Selected As One Of 10 Finalists For Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Loyola University Maryland graduate student Aidan Olmstead was selected as one of 10 finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, a national honor that focuses on the overall components of student-athlete commitment and success.

Olmstead leads the Loyola offense this season in both points (40) and assists (23), and he is tied for second in total points.

He recently became the third player in school history to reach the 200-point mark in his career, as well as to have both 100 career points and assists. He joins two former All-Americans in both categories, Gary Hanley (1978-81) and Pat Spencer (2016-19).

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be classified as NCAA Division I seniors or graduate students and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

The 10 finalists were chosen by a selection committee from the list of 20 candidates announced earlier in the season. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 16. Fan votes will be combined with those of the media and Division I head coaches to determine the winner.

Last weekend, Olmstead moved into the top-10 all-time in the Patriot League in points scored after dropping seven with three goals and four assists in an 18-7 Loyola win at the U.S. Naval Academy. With 208 career points, he is now 10th all-time in the conference and third at Loyola.

An All-Patriot League First Team honoree in 2021, Olmstead is fourth all-time at Loyola in assists (105) and tied for 11th in goals (103).

He was named the 2021 Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year and has been a member of the Dean's List every year at Loyola. Olmstead has been a two-time member of the Academic All-Patriot League Team and worked as an operations analyst for Morgan Stanley.

He graduated in May 2021 with a bachelor's degree with a dual major in international business and global studies and is currently pursuing his M.B.A.
