Toomey, Staff Earn Patriot League Award; Four Hounds Pick Up All-League Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Charley Toomey and the Loyola University Maryland men's lacrosse coaching staff were named the Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year on Monday after a regular-season that saw the Greyhounds put together the largest rise in win total nationally in 2026.

Four Loyola players were named to the All-Patriot League teams with Mason Cook picking up first-team honors, and Kenan Everhart, Luke Murphy and Jake Wilson earning second-team recognition.

Toomey and his staff – Justin Ward, Matt Dwan, Sean Cottle, Steve Vaikness and Matt Dixon – guided the Greyhounds to their fifth Patriot League regular-season title (shared or outright) since joining the conference in 2014. Loyola enters this week's Patriot League Championships with a 9-5 overall record after going 6-2 in conference play.

The title comes as Loyola completed a six-win regular-season turnaround from a year ago that registers as the largest in the nation this year.

Loyola's four players who were honored all became All-Patriot League players for the first time with the announcement of the conference's coach voting results.

Cook finished the regular season ranked second nationally in total goals (51) and third in goals per game (64), stats that lead the Patriot League in both categories. The sophomore from Towson, Maryland, scored two or more goals in 13 of 14 contests this year; he had three or more goals in 12 of those outings.

He is the sixth player in program history to post 50 or more goals in a season, and he is currently tied for fourth in school single-season history. In addition to his 51 goals scored, he has 10 assists for 61 points.

Everhart finished the regular season tied for second on the team in points (49) while leading the Greyhounds with 21 assists. His breakout 2026 season came after missing all of his freshman year (2024) and part of the 2025 season with injuries. Everhart has put together five hat tricks this season, including a three-goal, one-assist performance with the game-winning tally on Friday night at Navy.

Murphy leads Loyola midfielders in goals scored this year with 15 while registering 20 total points. The Massachusetts native has five multi-goal games this season while putting up career-high numbers in goals and points.

Wilson stepped into the role as the Greyhounds No. 1 cover defender this season and played a significant role in the defense's growth throughout the season. He leads non-faceoff unit players with 37 ground balls and is second on the team with 13 caused turnovers.
