Three Greyhounds Earn USILA All-America Honors

BALTIMORE – Payton Rezanka was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America Third Team, and he was joined by two of his Loyola University Maryland defensive counterparts with national recognition on Thursday.

In addition to Rezanka's third-team honor, Ryan McNulty and Cam Wyers were named to the USILA All-America Honorable Mention for the Greyhounds.

Rezanka continued Loyola's rich history of top-level short-stick defensive midfielders this season with his play on the defensive end of the field and in transition. He racked up a team-high 27 caused turnovers, the most by a short-stick nationally this season, while also picking up 31 ground balls.

The senior, who will return for the 2023 season, added three goals while helping Loyola rank sixth nationally in clearing percentage this year at 90.4 percent. His caused turnover, ground ball and goal totals all represent career-highs for the San Diego native.

McNulty picked up the third USILA All-America nod of his career after also earning second-team recognition in 2021 and honorable mention in 2019. He totaled 14 caused turnovers and 47 ground balls while also being a consistent contributor in transition with a goal and three assists.

Over his career, McNulty compiled 84 caused turnovers and 238 ground balls, totals that rank fourth and seventh in Loyola history. His ground-ball total is second amongst Loyola players who did not regularly take faceoffs. McNulty also scored 13 goals and had 15 assists in his career.

Wyers garnered his second USILA All-America recognition after also earning third-team laurels last season. This season, he finished with 16 caused turnovers and 33 ground balls on the defensive unit for the Greyhounds.

The senior from Ottawa, Ontario, who is slated to return to Loyola in 2023, has 57 caused turnovers and 126 ground balls during his time with the Greyhounds.
