CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland junior-to-be Mike Crowley birdied his last two holes Thursday to grab one of three qualifying spots for the 2022 U.S. Amateur Championship through a qualifier at Chambersburg Country Club.
 
Crowley finished the 36 holes of stroke play tied for medalist honors at 9-under 137, shooting 6-under 67 in the morning and 3-under 70 in the second round.
 
With two holes remaining, Crowley was a shot back of the pace that would get his ticket punched to next month's Amateur. He then birdied the 513-yard, par-5 17^th hole to get to 8-under, a score that would have put him into a playoff for the final spot.
 
He locked up his first bid to the Amateur, however, with a birdie on the 340-yard, par-4 18^th. Crowley finished tied for medalist honors with Benjamin Smith and Patrick Sheehan (Penn State).
 
Crowley will now play at the 122^nd U.S. Amateur Championship that will be held August 15-21 at The Ridgewood Country Club and Arcola Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey.
 
Last season, Crowley ranked third on the Greyhounds with a 74.50 stroke average in 30 rounds. He finished tied for 20^th at the Patriot League Championships as Loyola won the team title and advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
