BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland golf added former All-New Jersey player Garrett Kessler as a transfer who will play for the Greyhounds over the next three years.
Kessler competed as a freshman in 2021-2022 at Rutgers after ending his prep career as the No. 2 ranked player in the State of New Jersey according to
Junior Golf Scoreboard.
He earned All-State First Team honors as a senior in 2021 at West Essex Regional High School and helped lead West Essex to North II Sections I & II titles in back-to-back seasons.
Kessler was an All-State Third Team honoree in 2019, a year in which he tied for first at the NJSIAA Group II Championship. He won the 2019 K-Cup and also had two second-place finishes that year. The native of Far Hills, New Jersey, won the Essex County Championship as a freshman in 2018, as well.
He finished second in the 56
th-annual Williamson Cup and qualified for match play at the 2019 Met Junior Amateur and the 2022 Met Amateur. He took 10
th in the 2020 MGA Carter Cup and tied for ninth at the 2020 AJGA Golf Performance Center Junior Open.
In addition to play four years of golf at West Essex, he was a two-year letterwinner on the basketball court for the Knights.
