ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Loyola University Maryland won an extended third set, 28-26, to take a 2-1 lead in Saturday's match at the U.S. Naval Academy, but the Midshipmen came back to win the final two sets for a 25-22, 16-25, 26-28, 25-16, 25-11 victory at Wesley Brown Fieldhouse.
Loyola led by as many as four, 19-15, in the third set after a
Cecylia Guye kill, but Navy came back to tie the score six times after that, knotting the frame at every point from 21 to 26.
Adara Kellogg had a kill to give Loyola set-point at 27-26, and
Lauren Link then put away the stanza with a kill for the Greyhounds.
Link tied for game-high honors with 19 kills, while
Megan Bukala had13 and
Caitlin Churney 11.
Navy then came back to hit .423 in the fourth and .381 in the fifth to secure the Patriot League victory.
Ashley Dwyer had an even 50 kills for Loyola, and
Katie Forsythe had a game-best 29 digs.
