BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Deon Perry was named the Patriot League Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week after helping Loyola University Maryland to a pair of victories over the past five days.
 
Perry averaged 17.0 points and 3.0 assists in victories at Bucknell and against Navy. He shot 47.6 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from 3-point range in the games.
 
The freshman from Baltimore broke out for a career-best 22 points Wednesday night as the Greyhounds captured a 10-point win over the Bison. He knocked down 7 of 13 shots, including 5 of 10 from behind the arc, to lead all scorers in the game. During the time Perry was on the floor, Loyola outscored Bucknell by 27 points.
 
Perry scored 11 points in game's first 11 minutes, and his three with 44 seconds to go before halftime gave him 14 in the period and pushed Loyola out to a six-point advantage at the break. Overall, during the time Perry was on the floor, Loyola outscored Bucknell by 27 points. He also had four assists in the game without committing a turnover.
 
Saturday, he logged his first back-to-back game with 10-plus points as a collegian, scoring 12 in a 69-67 win over Navy.
 
Perry and the Greyhounds are back on the floor Monday, January 16, when they host Lehigh University in a 7 p.m. game at Reitz Arena that will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
