ROCKVILLE, Md. – Three Loyola University Maryland golfers finished the second round in the top 10 on Sunday after the first day of the Georgetown Intercollegiate at Woodmont Country Club.
Mike Crowley shot 1-under 71 in the second round to finish Sunday at even par, good for a tie for fifth place on the 7,385-yard, par-72 course.
Gustavo Rangel, who is playing as an individual, and
Jackson Roman are one stroke back of Crowley and tied for eighth at 1-over par 145 through 36 holes. Both players shot rounds of 3-under 69 in the morning, tying for the day's best rounds.
As a team, the Greyhounds are second behind defending NCAA Champion Florida after 36 holes. The Greyhounds combined to shoot 12-over in the two rounds, including 4-over in the second, a score which is tied for second-best on Sunday. They are four shots up on Campbell, which is third at 15-over.
Carlo Pizzano made his season debut for the Greyhounds and is tied for 18
th at 5-over, and
Lorenzo Sanz is a shot back and tied for 22
nd. Both had solid second rounds with Pizzano shooting even-par 72 and Sanz a 1-over 73.
James Rico is tied for 49
th through 36 holes at 11-over.
Loyola will continue the tournament on Monday with the final round starting at 8:30 a.m.
