BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland had a season-high 13 service aces on Sunday, and the Greyhounds swept visiting College of the Holy Cross, 25-19, 25-14, 25-11, in a Patriot League match.
Loyola (8-10 overall, 3-5 Patriot League) trailed the Crusaders for just five points throughout the match while hitting .275 as a team.
Set Breakdown
- Set One
- Two aces in a row by Lauren Link gave the Greyhounds a 6-1 lead, forcing a Holy Cross timeout.
- The Crusaders came out of the stoppage and scored 10 of the next 13 points to go up 11-9 on an Abbie Lane service ace.
- Loyola would sideout on a Link kill, and one by Kennedy Stevens put the Greyhounds in front, 12-11, for the rest of the set.
- Set Two
- Holy Cross took its last lead of the match at 4-3 in the second set, but Loyola was no worse than tied from that point forward.
- A Kacy Sekunda kill made it 17-12 Greyhounds, and Kennedy Stevens had a kill to make it 19-14, sparking a 7-0 run to close the match.
- Set Three
- Caitlin Churney had a kills to give Loyola a 15-9 lead and start a 10-0 Greyhounds stretch to put the match away.

- Loyola's 13 service aces were a season-high that eclipsed their previous best from Tuesday night when they had 11 in a sweep of American University.
- The 13 aces are the most by a Patriot League team in a three-set match this season. The total is the most by a Loyola team since the Greyhounds posted 13 in a four-set win over Siena on August 24, 2018.
- Link had four kills, while Stevens posted three; Soares and Sekunda each had two.
- Link tallied a match-high 13 kills, hitting .345 in the process.
- Churney, Stevens, Morgan Crawford and Sophie Brenner all had six kills, and Sekunda finished with five.
- Sekunda led all players with 19 assists, while Soares had 15 and Rose McDermott seven.
- McDermott pulled up a match-high 15 digs, and Crawford's 12 were a new season-high. Link posted a double-double with 10 digs.
