Carpentier, Spaulding Sign NLIs to Join Golf Program

BALTIMORE – Matt Carpentier and Eli Spaulding signed National Letters of Intent this week and will join the Loyola University Maryland men's golf program as its Class of 2028, Head Coach Chris Baloga announced today.
 
Carpentier (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon H.S.) and Spaulding (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) join the Greyhounds after excellent junior careers.
 
Carpentier qualified for the 2023 Junior PGA Championship in August and had three first-place finishes during the summer, winning the International Junior Masters, the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Prep Series at N.C. State and the Western New York PGA Junior Championship.
 
He had a pair of top-20 finishes in 2023 AJGA events and led Pittsford Mendon to the 2023 New York State Championship while he finished fifth individually.
 
Academically, Carpentier is a member of the National Honor Society and the Business Honor Society, and he has been an active volunteer in his community.
 
Spaulding comes to Loyola as a three-time Class B State Champion in Maine and the 2022 New England High School Champion. He won the 2021 and 2022 Maine Junior Championships and has second-place finishes at the New England Junior Amateur in 2022 and 2023 and the 2023 Northern Junior. He finished tied for 10th at the 2023 New England Amateur and had a fourth-place finish in the Maine Amateur.
 
He also has competed in the US Challenge Cup Invitational where he finished third, and he is a two-time competitor at the Junior Orange Bowl, finishing 16th in 2023.
 
Off the course, he is also a member of the National Honor Society and has won multiple awards at Freeport High School, including for Latin and science.
