Swimming Wins Five Races, Takes Five Seconds At Navy Long Course Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Ten Loyola University Maryland swimmers competed at the 2023 Navy Long Course Invitational on Friday, picking up five event wins and five second-place finishes.

Lily Mead

Mead competed in four events, winning two and picking up a second and third.
She posted a victory in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:21.07, and she won a 100-meter backstroke race in 1:03.26.
Mead also posted a second-place finish in a 100 backstroke (1:02.64), and she was third in the 200-meter backstroke (2:23.75).

Joe Hayburn

He was also a two-time winner for Loyola, touching the wall first in a pair of 200-meter backstroke events. He swam times of 2:02.29 and 2:03.79 for the first-place finishes.

Max Verheyen

The Loyola graduate student won a swim in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing in 1:03.64, after taking second in the same event earlier in the day (1:03.52).

Henry Mueller

Mueller placed second in the 100-meter backstroke twice during the day, swimming 56.86 and 56.91.

Michael Gozdan

Came in second in a swimming of the 100-meter breaststroke (1:03.99) and also had a time of 1:06.41 to finish 10^th in a race of the discipline.

Caleb Kelly

Put down a time of 61.60 to finish third in the 100-meter freestyle.

Patrick Hayburn

Patrick Hayburn took third in a swim of the 100-meter butterfly (55.03), and he posted a pair of fourth-place finishes for the Greyhounds, swimming 23.55 in the 50-meter freestyle and 55.61 in the 100-meter backstroke. He also was 12^th in a rendition of the 50-meter freestyle in 24.07.

Cameron Shinnick

Shinnick swam times of 55.60 and 55.89 in the 100-meter butterfly to finish fourth and fifth, respectively, in those races.

Zach Eisenmann

Eisenmann finished fifth in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:04.47.

Michael Venit

Venit placed seventh in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:05.98, and he had a 12^th-place finish in the event (1:07.13), as well.
