BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two members of the Loyola University Maryland Women's Track and Field Program were named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team for their excellence in competition and in the classroom.
 
Olivia Malley and Carly Spinnler earned recognition following the conclusion of the indoor track and field season.
 
Malley is a senior who will graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Arts in global studies with a minor in political science. Through her classwork and internships, she has been involved in several areas of public policy.
 
She currently interns for the Baltimore Council on Foreign Affairs where she has helped to work with the group in presentations and speakers relating to international affairs topics. She has submitted research papers regarding gender, human rights and conflicts and the relationship of women and gender in the Middle East.
 
On the track, Malley was the Greyhounds' top long sprinter and middle-distance runner, running the team's top times in the 400, 500, 600 and 800 meters. She ran a career-best time of 2:11.99 in the 800 meters and finished sixth in the event at the Patriot League Indoor Championships. She then clocked a time of 1:13.85 in the preliminaries and 1:14.65 in the finals to claim fourth in the 500 meters at the ECAC Championships.
 
Spinnler graduated from Loyola in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in biology and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in emerging media and a health communications certificate at the school.
 
She has served as a certified nursing assistant throughout high school and college, working at a nursing care center near her home in New Jersey.
 
Spinner was a key middle-distance runner for the Greyhounds during the indoor campaign as she ran a season-best time of 2:15.93 in the 800 meters at the Navy Select meet in February. She helped both the Greyhounds' 4x800-meter and distance medley relays score points at the Patriot League Championships where the former was third and the latter seventh. She also was a part of the 4x800 team that was eighth at the ECAC Championships.
