BOSTON – Boston University scored four-straight over an eight-minute stretch in the first quarter, and the Terriers went on to a 16-9 Patriot League victory on Saturday at Nickerson Field.
The Terriers (8-3 overall, 5-1 Patriot League) scored the game's first two goals in less than two minutes, but then
Adam Poitras got the Greyhounds on the board with a feed from behind by
Davis Lindsey at 10:59.
That would be the Greyhounds' last goal until only nine seconds remained in the first quarter as Boston University reeled off the next four to lead 6-1.
Lindsey threw to
Seth Higgins for a stepdown shot from over 15 yards late in the quarter, and Loyola went into the second down, 6-2.
Poitras scored his second of the game at 10:26 in the second quarter when
Evan James found him cutting backside, but the Terriers responded with a goal 49 second later.
Matt Heuston got into the scoring column for Loyola late in the shot clock as he spun to his left and got off a right-handed shot for a goal at 6:17.
Seven seconds later, Loyola scored again as
Eric Pacheco won the ground ball forward and got it to Poitras for his third of the day.
Louis Perfetto scored at 3:53 for the Terriers, kicking off a 5-0 run that would cover 19 minutes, 2 seconds and see them lead 12-5 in the third quarter.
Payton Reznaka scored in transition with 2:08 left in the third to stop the run, but Boston university got a goal back with 5.7 seconds left in the stanza.
James tallied the goal 52 seconds into the fourth with a Poitras assist, and Rezanka and
Mustang Sally then played give-and-go for a Sally goal at 12:14 to make it 14-8.
Henry Haberman made it a five-goal deficit at 7:11 with a one-timer on man-up from a Higgins assist.
The Greyhounds play their final non-conference game of the regular-season on Tuesday, April 18, hosting Georgetown University at 7 p.m.
