CAMDEN, N.J. – Two boats competed at the at the Dad Vail Regatta for the Loyola University Maryland men's rowing team this weekend with each faring well on Friday and moving on to finals that will be held Saturday on the Cooper River.
The varsity four –
Eoin McDonough,
Frederich Lightner,

Chris Engelbert and coxswain
Joey Sigmund – took second in the opening heats with a time of 6:18.58, just over three-tenths of a second behind Fairfield, which had the fastest time in the preliminary rounds.
The Greyhounds' junior varsity four –
Julius Boucke,
David Schechter,
Joseph Arvelo, Josh Rafferty and coxswain
Katie Blanch – was third in its preliminaries, rowing 6:35.424, less than three-tenths of a second back of Fairfield in second in the morning.
In the afternoon's semifinals, the Greyhounds' junior varsity four won its head with a time of 6:59.951 and will compete for the Dad Vails title – the Ken Shaw Trophy – against Fordham, Fairfield, Temple, Drexel and Jacksonville on Saturday at 1:50 p.m.
The varsity four took second in its semifinal heat with a time of 6:52.502, 2.5 seconds back of winner Embry-Riddle. That boat will race for the Thomas Curran Cup on Saturday at 3:50 against Lafayette, Fairfield, Embry-Riddle, Bowdoin and Drexel.
