Bison Edge Volleyball In Saturday Evening Match

BALTIMORE – Six points were all that separated Bucknell University and Loyola Univeristy Maryland throughout a Saturday evening Patriot League volleyball match, but the Greyhounds came out on the short end of the score as the Bison won, 27-25, 25-23, 25-23, in Reitz Arena.
 
Set Breakdown
  • Set One
    • Bucknell led by four early, 12-9, and later by three, 18-15, but Loyola battled back to go up 22-21 and 23-22 on kills by Sophie Brenner and Lauren Link.
    • The Bison (7-8 overall, 3-3 Patriot League) would tie both times, and Loyola had the first set-point opportunity at 24-23 with a Link kill, but an attack error turned the serve back the Bison.
    • Riley Tucker converted a kill for Bucknell, and the Bison had set point at 25-24, but an attack error gave Loyola sideout point.
    • Bucknell closed the first set at 27-25 after kills by Bri Frazilus and Catherine Jamison.
  • Set Two
    • Loyola scored the first eight points of the second set with Brenner and Morgan Crawford each tallying a pair of kills, but Bucknell scored seven of the next eight points and got within two at 9-7.
    • The Bison tied the set at 11-11 on a Loyola attack error, and they grabbed a lead at 13-12.
    • Loyola bounced back to tie the second set at 23-23 with a Crawford kill and a Bucknell attack error, but Jamison put away a kill to give the Bison set point. Jamison then teamed with Tucker for a block that ended the second set.
  • Set Three
    • Loyola led 10-9 after a Crawford kill, and one by Brenner gave the Greyhounds a 17-15 lead and forced a Bucknell timeout.
    • Jamison sided out with a kill, but Link came back with two kills in the next three points, and Loyola led 19-17.
    • Sidney Shafer had a kill for the Bison to sideout, and they scored two more on a pair of blocks to lead, 20-19.
    • Loyola tied the score at 20, 21, 22 and finally at 23-23 on a Kennedy Stevens kill, but blocks by the Bison on the last two points sealed the win.
Stat Pack
  • Crawford and Brenner led all players with 14 kills each, and Link had 12. Brenner's 14 were her most this season and tied for her most since August of 2021 in her freshman year. Crawford's set a new career-high.
  • Bryanne Soares had 41 assists and 11 digs for the Greyhounds.
  • Link posted 14 digs, and Rose McDermott added 13.
