Adams, Clarke Set School Indoor Records At Spire Collegiate Games

GENEVA, Ohio – Sprinters Jamie Adams and Lauryn Clarke continued to rewrite the Loyola University Maryland indoor track and field record book on Saturday as Adams set a school record and Clarke tied one as the Greyhounds competed at the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.

Adams broke a four-year old mark in the 400 meters, becoming the first Loyola woman to run under 57 seconds indoors in the event with a time of 56.30.

She broke the previous best of 57.13 seconds run in February 2020 by Heather Merrifield. Saturday's race was the first indoor 400 that Adams has run as a collegian; she finished second overall in the race.

Clarke meanwhile put down a time of 7.60 seconds in the final of the 60 meters, tying the school record she set last month in the event. Earlier in the day, she qualified second with a time of 7.69 seconds, and she took second in the evening final.

Clarke also finished fourth in the 200 meters, running 25.13 seconds, good for the No. 7 time in school indoor history.

The times for both Adams and Clarke were ECAC Indoor Championships qualifying standards.

Kat Zysk put her name on the school's top times list, running 1:40.04 in the 600 meters, the seventh fastest time in school history as she became the fourth fastest Loyola runner in that event. She took fourth in Saturday's race. Kaitlyn Casas was 10th in the event, running 1:51.72.

Kasey Boag finished seventh in the 5,000 meters, running 18:57.54, while Norah Affanato was 11th in 19:21.51.

Leanely Cruz had a 15th-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.21), and she was 11th in the 300 meters (44.88) while Lauren Gerow was 16th (46.26).

Sammie Spargo led four Greyhounds in the 3,000 meters, taking 24th (10:55.14), while Lauren Riddle was 32nd (11:04.34), Mackenzie Newman 41st (11:21.76) and Maddie Hyde 42nd (11:24.45).

Meghan Leonard was 31st in the mile (5:28.12), and Kiera Udell took 34th (5:29.84).
