GENEVA, Ohio – Sprinters
Jamie Adams and
Lauryn Clarke continued to rewrite the Loyola University Maryland indoor track and field record book on Saturday as Adams set a school record and Clarke tied one as the Greyhounds competed at the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.
Adams broke a four-year old mark in the 400 meters, becoming the first Loyola woman to run under 57 seconds indoors in the event with a time of 56.30.
She broke the previous best of 57.13 seconds run in February 2020 by Heather Merrifield. Saturday's race was the first indoor 400 that Adams has run as a collegian; she finished second overall in the race.
Clarke meanwhile put down a time of 7.60 seconds in the final of the 60 meters, tying the school record she set last month in the event. Earlier in the day, she qualified second with a time of 7.69 seconds, and she took second in the evening final.
Clarke also finished fourth in the 200 meters, running 25.13 seconds, good for the No. 7 time in school indoor history.
The times for both Adams and Clarke were ECAC Indoor Championships qualifying standards.
