Minicus Earns Weekly Patriot League Honor After Career Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two days after setting career-highs with nine points and five assists, Loyola University Maryland's Matthew Minicus was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.

Minicus had his career-best outing on Saturday in an 18-10 win at Lafayette College, scoring four times as well in the win. He either scored or had the assist on half of the Greyhounds' goals.

The sophomore from Darien, Connecticut, scored twice in the span of 34 seconds midway through the first quarter to put Loyola in front, 4-1, and he had an assist later in the period.

Lafayette rallied to lead 7-6 with 8:22 on the clock before halftime, but Minicus assisted on two of the next three Loyola goals and then scored a fourth to cap a 4-0 run and put Loyola up 10-7.

He added two assists and a goal and two assists in the second half, as well.

The nine points exceeded his high from a 2023 game at Bucknell where he scored seven goals and had an assist for eight points as a freshman. His four assists on Saturday eclipsed a high of three from last April at Lehigh.

Minicus is now tied for the team-lead with 27 points. He is second in assists (9) and goals scored (18).

The Greyhounds will be back in action on Friday, March 29, when they host Lehigh University in a 7 p.m. game at Ridley Athletic Complex.
