BETHLEHEM, Pa. ­– Loyola University Maryland sophomore Deon Perry was selected to the All-Patriot League Second Team on Monday after he led the conference in scoring during the regular-season.
 
Perry, who missed the last three-plus games with an injury, finished the year averaging 17.2 points per game and 20.8 in the 15 Patriot League games he played.
 
The guard connected on 75 3-pointers during the year, 44 in Patriot League play and led the conference in 3-pointers made during League action with 2.9.
 
He also was tops in the Patriot League in free-throw percentage (.910), fifth in steals per game (1.5) and eighth in assists (3.0).
 
Perry and the Greyhounds will open play in the Patriot League Championships on Tuesday, March 5, with a 7 p.m. game at the U.S. Naval Academy.
 
The Baltimore native opened the season by averaging 12.0 points in the year's first 10 games, but he increased that average by more than five points by the end of the regular-season. Over the last 17 games he played, Perry scored 362 of his 482 points to average 21.3 in those contests.
 
Perry ended the year with 11 games of 20 or more points, including three with 30 or better. He was the only player in the conference to log more than one 30-point game this season, and he finished with a career-best 33 in the February 17 game at Lehigh.
 
Beginning with a January 20 game at Holy Cross, Perry had a stretch of nine outings in which he scored at least 15 points and had 21 or more seven times. The streak was ended when he finished with 11 in only 17 minutes on February 21 when he was injured in the first half against Navy.
 
In his two seasons at Loyola, the 2022-23 Patriot League All-Rookie Team member has scored 857 points, averaging 14.0 in 61 games.
