Kennedy Buntrock Named to England U20 World Championship Team

Baltimore -- England Lacrosse has announced their final 22-player squad for the upcoming World Lacrosse Championship, as Loyola University Maryland's Kennedy Buntrock was named to the team.

"We are delighted to have selected Kennedy for our U20 England team for the World Championships this summer in Hong Kong" U20 Head Coach Vic Alexander said. "Kennedy was an integral part of the winning England team at the U21 European Championships last summer in Prague. Kennedy worked hard with the team in the build up to this tournament, demonstrating a calm tenacity and self-confidence and her fantastic and supportive personality was a great addition to the team."

The 2024 World Lacrosse U20 Women's Championship will take place in Hong Kong, China from August 15 through August 24. Buntrock is one of the 15 returning players from the U21 team that went unbeaten in the World Championship in 2023 in Prague, Czechia.

Buntrock, who has appeared in five games during her freshman campaign, in goal, has tallied three saves on 13 shots faced this season, to go along with a ground ball.

"We are lucky that we have been able to continue to work with Kennedy this season among her commitment to the Loyola's women's lacrosse team" Alexander said. "Head coach, Jen Adams, and assistant coach, Dana Dobbie, both having represented their own countries, Australia and Canada, they have enabled Kennedy to fulfill her dream of playing at an U20 World Championships. Jen and Dana are both aware of the balance between NCAA Lacrosse and representing your country internationally and we have been fortunate to have their support."

England was drawn in Pool D alongside Ireland, Jamaica, Japan, and China for the Championships. Their first game will take place on Friday, August 16 against Jamaica.

Buntrock joins current teammates Georgia Latch and Lauren Spence as current members of the team who have been selected for their respected countries. Latch who played for team Austrailia in 2022, and Spence who played for team Canada in 2022.
