Bethlehem -- The Patriot League announced the Scholar Athlete of the Year and the Academic All Patriot League teams on Wednesday afternoon, as
Sydni Black and
Chase Boyle were both named to the Academic Team.
This is the second time Black has been named to the Academic All-League time, while this is the first time for Boyle.
Black has been getting it done on the field this season, being named the Patriot League Attacker of the Year and earning First Team All-Patriot League. She was also named as a Tewaaraton top-25 semifinalist. She finished the regular season second in the Patriot League in goals (64) and sixth in NCAA Division I in goals. She also ranks eighth in the Patriot League in assists (25), as she is tied for seventh in Division I in points (89). She ended the season on a 53-game goal streak, as Black as scored a hat trick in 13 of 17 games this season.
Off the field, Black is a double-major in business management and information systems, and data analytics, as she boasts a 3.8 GPA. She is a member of the Loyola University Student Board to the President Member, Loyola University Diversity Advisory Board Presidential Scholar, earned Dean's List each semester, Loyola University Maryland Diane Geppi-Aikens Scholarship Recipient, and Women's Sports Foundation Athlete Leadership Connection Participant. She also was named the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Lacrosse winner. She also volunteers with Harlem Lacrosse.
Boyle has been having a season for the record books this season, as she was named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year and earned her second First Team All-League nod. She was named as a Tewaaraton top-25 semifinalist, as she finished the regular season with the Division I lead in goals (74). The 74 goals are also a new program record for goals in a single-season, a record she broke in the regular season finale against Bucknell. On top of her dominance on the offensive side of the field, Boyle is a true two-way midfielder, as she is third in the country in draw controls per game (10.59).
Off the field, Boyle is a communication major with a minor in business and holds a 3.8 GPA. She has made a made the deans list each semester while at Loyola, and was a sales and trading summer analyst at Royal Bank of Canaday Capital Markets duirng last summer.
