PARIS, France – Former Loyola University Maryland men's basketball standout Santi Aldama knocked down six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points on Saturday as he made his Olympic debut at the 2024 Games in Paris.
Aldama, who was a First-Team All-Patriot League player for the Greyhounds in 2020-21 before being picked in the NBA Draft's First Round, made 6 of 8 from behind the arc and 9 of 10 shots from the free-throw line to lead all scorers.
Spain, however, lost its Group A-opener, 92-80, to Australia.
Aldama also ahd five rebounds and two steals for the Spanish side.
The former Academic All-Patriot League player will be back on the floor in Paris in Spain's second Group Phase game on Tuesday, July 30, against Greece in a game slated to start at 5 a.m. EDT.
