Incoming Men’s Basketball Player Emmett Adair To Play In FIBA U-19 World Cup

BALTIMORE – One of the newest members of the Loyola University Maryland men's basketball program will suit up for his native Australia starting Saturday in Switzerland at the FIBA U-19 World Cup.

Emmett Adair, who will compete for the Greyhounds starting this fall, will continue his international career after he earned Most Valuable Players for last year at the FIBA U-18 Asia Cup.

At that competition, Adair averaged 13.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for the Boomers, and he also played in five games for the Australian side at the 2023 FIBA U-17 Oceania Championships where he scored 14.6 points across five games while grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game.

Adair, who comes to Loyola after playing at the NBA Global Academy, saw his first action with Australia's Men's Senior National Team this spring, playing in a pair of games during the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifying Rounds and averaging 9.5 points and 2.5 rebounds.

Australia will start this month's FIBA U-19 World Cup on Saturday, June 28, in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Boomers will take on the United States team in the opening game that is slated to tip off at 11:15 a.m. (EDT).

The following day, Australia will play Cameroon, and it closes the group phase on Tuesday, July 1, against France.
