Men’s Basketball To Open Season In Hall of Fame Series Baltimore Against Local Foe

BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland men's basketball will open its 2025-2026 schedule in Downtown Baltimore as part of the Hall of Fame Series at CGF Bank Arena.

The Greyhounds will take on Towson at the two-game event that will feature a pair of other area teams in a second game. Maryland will face Coppin State, as well, in the event that is in its second year at the Arena.

Tickets for the Monday, November 3, event will go on sale this summer with information that will be distributed through LoyolaGreyhounds.com. Fans can also sign up for presale information and alerts at HOFSeries.com.

"We are excited to be playing at a great venue in our home city in an event that brings local teams and fans together," said Josh Loeffler, Loyola's head men's basketball coach. "These games should provide a fun environment for all basketball fans in Charm City."

CFG Bank Arena, formerly known as both the Baltimore Civic Center and the Baltimore Arena, reopened in February 2023 after an extensive renovation. Last year, it hosted a Hall of Fame Series event with games between Penn State and Virginia Tech, as well as Virginia and Villanova.

The game will be Loyola's 14th all-time in the venue, dating back to a 1965 contest against Mount St. Mary's. The last time it played in the downtown arena was on December 9, 1995, when it lost 83-73 to Notre Dame.

The Hall of Fame Series, which is owned and operated by Position Sports and run in partnership with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, has hosted events in Baltimore (2024), Charlotte (2023), Las Vegas (2023-24), New York (2024), Phoenix (2023-24), San Antonio (2023) and Toronto (2023).

Baltimore is the third location for the Series to be announced this year with other stops taking place in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
