BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Loyola University Maryland extended its unbeaten streak in Patriot League play to five matches Friday night, rallying past Lehigh, 2–1, at Ulrich Sports Complex.
Lehigh struck first in the 20th minute when Taylor Latini converted off an assist from Aminah Baruwa, but Loyola quickly answered. In the 28th minute, Reagan Mallia found the equalizer, burying a shot from distance for her first career goal to bring the Greyhounds level.
The decisive moment came late in the match. In the 86th minute, Loyola's persistence paid off as Leah Carter headed in a header off a cross from Malone Christen, to lift the Greyhounds ahead 2–1. Carter's first career goal capped a two-goal rally for the Greyhounds to remain unbeaten in Patriot League play.
Goalkeeper Hannah Goetzer was steady in net, making five saves to earn her fourth win of the season. The Greyhounds also held a 5–2 advantage in corner kicks on the evening.
With the victory, Loyola improved to 5-2-6 overall and 2-0-3 in conference play. The Greyhounds return home to Ridley Athletic Complex on Wednesday, as they will host the Lafayette Leopards at 6:00 PM.
