Jackson Roman played a 10-hole stretch at 7-under, spanning the first and second rounds on Friday, finishing the day in second place individually for Loyola University Maryland at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic.
Roman eagled the 10
th hole at Club Campestre Monterrey to start his second round and after four-straight pars, he birdied three of the final four holes in his frist round to finish the 18 holes at 5-under 67.
He opened the second round with an eagle on the course's first hole and led for much of the next nine holes before a bogey on the ninth hole finished his day at 6-under.
As a team, the Greyhounds are tied for fourth at 4-under midway through the tournament. Teams played 27 holes on Friday and will play the remaining 27 Saturday.
Lorenzo Sanz and
Eli Spaulding are tied for 18
th at 1-under through 27 holes.
Sanz had four birdies on his back nine of the first round to finish at 3-under 69. Spaulding shot even-par 72 in the first round and is 1-under through nine in the second. The pair are both 1-under for the tournament.
Dustin Stocksdale rebounded from an opening round 8-over 80 to shoot even-par 36 on the front in the second round and is 64
th.
Gustavo Rangel is 7-over for the tournament and 61
st.
Matt Carpentier is 3-over in total and 47
th while playing as an individual.
