Jackson Roman birdied his final hole at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic on Saturday to move into a tie for second individually, helping the Loyola University Maryland golf team to a fourth-place overall finish.
Roman's finish capped an excellent career run for the graduate student at the event in Mexico. He was third in 2023, Loyola's first time at the tournament, and he then tied for fifth a year ago.
With his 7-under 209 this weekend, Roman shot 30-under in nine career rounds at the tournament.
Roman led the tournament with three eagles, carding one in each round. He had his third of the 54 holes on the 10
th hole in Saturday's final round, a hole where he also posted a three in Friday's first 18.
Saturday morning, he finished his second round at even par. He then shot 2-under 70 in the final, a score that was third-best on the team.
Gustavo Rangel posted a season-low 5-under 67 in the final round to lead the Greyhounds while tying for the best round of the day in the tournament. He finished at 1-over for the tournament, tying for 26
th.
Eli Spaulding was just a stroke behind Rangel in the final round with a 4-under 68, tying for 10
th overall at 5-under in the tournament.
Lorenzo Sanz finished Saturday's final round at 5-over to shoot 5-over in the tournament and tie for 39
th.
Matt Carpentier, who played as an individual, was a shot back overall after shooting 2-over 74 Saturday, and tied for 49
th.
Dustin Stocksdale had his best round of the tournament in the second round, shoting 1-over 73, and he finished tied for 66
th.
As a team, Loyola had the second-best score of the final round, shooting 6-under 282. The Greyhounds finished fourth at 8-under overall in their final tournament of the fall.
