Amandine Amorich hit a half court shot right before the halftime buzzer to cut the Loyola Unviersity Maryland deficit down to seven points, but Colgate University pulled away in the second half for the 74-59 win on Sunday afternoon.
Following Amorich's half court heave, the Greyhounds (8-14 overall, 2-9 Patriot League) found some momentum to start the second half, as they used a 6-0 run early in the second half to cut their deficit down to three points, as they trailed 36-33.
Colgate responded with a 9-0 run over their own, as they built up their lead once again. The Raiders (17-7 overall, 7-4 Patriot League) continued their strong third quarter, as they outscored the Greyhounds 21-8 over the last six minutes of the quarter, as they led 57-41 heading into the fourth quarter.
Loyola cut into the Colgate lead, as a
Gabby Betton layup cut the deficit to 14 points, but Colgate continued their hot shooting, as they held on for the 74-59 win.
Amorich led all scores with 19 points on the day, as all nine Greyhounds players scored in the game.
Koi Sims recorded 9 rebounds to lead the team, while Amorich also added three steals in the game.
Taylor Golembiewski had 18 points for Colgate, while Anne Bair (12 points) and Morgan McMahon (10 points) also finished in double figures.
Both teams were efficient from the offensive end, as Colgate (52.6%) and Loyola (51.1%) both shot over 50% from the field.
The Greyhounds will return to the road this week, as they will travel to face Army West Point on Wednesday, followed by a matchup at American on Saturday.
