BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland men's tennis swept the doubles point and then won five out of six singles matches Wednesday to defeat visiting Goucher College, 6-1, at the McClure Tennis Center.
Noah Castillo and
Ryan Gill outlasted Gabe Naftoly and Benedikt Rummel, 7-6 (4), at No. 1 doubles, and
Cristian Pemueller and
Ryan Boland took a 6-1 win over Guilheme Moraes and George King at No. 2.
George Cavo and
Harry Zeiders were 7-5 winners against Tadeo Asprella and Jackson Beam at No. 3.
In the singles matches, Castillo beat Naftoly, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1, and Gill topped Rummel, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3.
Blake Edwards defeated Calis Bguyen, 7-6 (2), 6-2, at No. 4, and Pemueller knocked off Moraes, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5.
Trevor Girandola beat King, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6. Asprella scored the Gophers' point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Boland.
Loyola will be back in action Thursday afternoon with a match at Coppin State.
